Do you ever wonder why your house becomes so dusty and where all the dust comes from? You're not alone. A dusty house is the result of either lack of air flow or a contaminated flow of air. Unsealed return ductwork running through attics, crawlspaces or in between walls contributes to a dusty home.
Dust collections made up in your home come from dead skin, hair, carpet fibers, clothing and upholstery, bedding fragments, and various particles from outdoors. In fact, 60% of the dust in your house comes from the outdoors. Research conducted by 5 institutions, including the Natural Resources Defense Council. Focusing on peer-reviewed medical literature published since 2000, they analyzed the results of 26 studies that investigated chemicals from current consumer products found in U.S. indoor dust. They found that typical household dust contains an average of 45 chemicals. Ten potentially harmful compounds were found in 90% of all samples. The chemicals identified in the study came from television sets, furniture, beauty and cleaning products and flooring materials.
There are many ways to prevent your home from becoming so dusty, we will discuss a few of those ways now.
