The problem- Grass stains
The solution- Rubbing alcohol and water
Create a mixture of two teaspoons of water and one teaspoon of rubbing alcohol. Rub the mixture on the stain until it is saturated, then wash the garment as you normally would. NEVER use rubbing alcohol on wool or silk.
The problem- Red wine
The solution- Dish-washing detergent and white vinegar
Blot-not rub- as much of the wine off the carpet as much as possible. Mix 1 tablespoon of liquid hand dish-washing detergent, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 2 cups of warm water. Sponge the stain using a white cloth and the mixture, blotting frequently with a dry cloth. Once the stain is gone, sponge the area with cold water and then blot dry.
The problem- New artwork on your couch
The solution- Dish-washing detergent, white vinegar and rubbing alcohol
To remove felt-tip marker stains from your couch, mix 1 tablespoon of liquid hand dish-washing detergent, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, and 2 cups of cool water. Sponge the stain with the mixture on a white cloth. Let it sit for 30 minutes, continuing to blot every 5 minutes with more solution. Flush with cool water and blot the area dry. Use rubbing alcohol to sponge stain then blot dry. Sponge it once more with cool water and blot dry for the final time.
The problem- Grease stains
The solution- Baby powder, cornstarch or baking soda
Blot the stain with a paper towel to remove as much of the oil or grease as you can. Make sure not to rub it in further. Put baby powder on the area to draw out the oil or grease. Brush off powder after a few minutes.
The problem- Dog urine
The solution- Dish soap and warm water
Mix 1/2 teaspoon of dish soap with 1 cup of warm water. Pour the mixture directly onto the stain. Blot the stained area dry with a paper towel. Repeat process if needed.
The problem- Blood stains
The solution- White foam shaving cream
Simply dampen the stained area with some warm water and the spray the stain with enough white foam shaving cream to cover the stain. Allow the shaving cream to sit for a few minutes. Then rub the shaving cream in with a sponge or brush and allow it so sit for another few minutes. Wipe away any remaining shaving cream with cool water using a rag or sponge. When the area is dry vacuuming should remove any dried up shaving cream.
